Thumb hypoplasia in children: A case report

Thumb hypoplasia is a component of radial longitudinal deficiency. The severity can range from slightly smaller thumb to complete absence. They are often categorised using Blauth classification recommend appropriate treatment. Type II characterised by the first web-space narrowing, underdeveloped or absence thenar muscles, extrinsic and metacarpophalangeal joint instability. author reviews 7-year-old male patient who visits hospital due small thumb, narrowing web I-II limiting flexing interphalangeal joint. He underwent release flap Z-plasty, stabilised metatarsal opponensplasty transfer flexor digitorum superficialis IV finger increase opposition thumb. Results were assessed according subject object criteria. proposed that this technique could be reliable for treating other cases with type IIIB.
